Definition of Communication

Q. What is Communication?
Communication: The word communication means the act or process of giving or exchanging of information, signals, or messages as by talk, gestures, or writing. Technically speaking, in the act of communication, we make opinions, feelings, information, etc known or understood by others through speech, writing or bodily movement.

According to Keith Devis, W. H. Newman, The American Management Association and Peter Little Communication definition are provided below:

1) “Communication is a process of passing information and understanding from one person to another”—Keith Devis

2) “Communication is an exchange of fact, ideas, opinions, or emotions by two or more persons”—W. H. Newman

3) “Communication is any behavior that results in an exchange of meaning”—The American Management Association

4) “Communication is the process by which information is passed between individuals and /or organization by means of previously agreed symbols”—Peter Little
